Choosing a Major at an Accredited Christian University Online

So, you feel called to ministry, in some form or another.  But now that you’re investigating online programs at Christian universities, you are surprised all the different options available.  Don’t be overwhelmed; more options are a good thing!

Choosing your major should be done carefully.  The two most helpful criteria you have are your career/vocational goals and your particular interest and passions.  In fact, your talents and interests probably inform those goals, to some extent, right?

Defining your goals and then finding a major that will help you accomplish them is much easier than going through all the majors available at every accredited Christian university online and trying to decide that way what your goals should be.

Remember that your major doesn’t have to be religion-focused, depending on your goal

If you want to serve the Church as an administrator, for example, a major in business might be enormously helpful.  If you choose an accredited Christian university online, you’ll have plenty of options for electives, or even a minor, in Christianity related studies.

Or, if you want to pursue a degree in counseling, a degree in psychology provides a great foundation.  Some schools even offer majors in Christian counseling that are designed to provide a mix of secular psychology courses and Christian studies courses, as well as classes which crossover and combine the two.

If you want to serve the Church through your musical talents and the accredited Christian university online of your choice doesn’t offer a Christian music major, you can still major in a music related degree, and take advantage of their various electives in religious studies.
